1. Hi, tell us a little bit about you . Where are you from ? What are you doing ? (School , Work etc.) How old are you ?
My name is Gene Sprague but in the gaming world I go by the name
of }»F®èékßøÿG«{ or if you're unfamiliar with the Character Map, just
FreekBoyG. I was born in San Mateo California 32 years ago but now I live in
the dirty heat of downtown San Jose (I'd much rather be in San Francisco). I
work in Sunnyvale at one of the greatest console game developers to ever
come out of Japan, Capcom. Where I am a Senior Online Customer Support
Representative. Eventually I'd like to leave Customer Service & get back to
the development side of the gaming industry possibly as a skinner or
something else art related. I used to work in the Comic Book Industry but I
left that because I felt I was unable to produce the kind of work I was
happy with in a timely manner.

2. When do you started skinning and for which game?
I became fascinated by skinning during the reign of Quake 2 but I didn't
actually try my hand at it until UT.
|
|
3. Do you remember your first skin ?
Yep, I sure do. It was something that I never finished. Although I'd still
like to get back to it & wrap it up for my own peace of mind. It was a skin
for the Male Commando model. It was going to be Chris Redfield from the
Resident Evil series. Coming from Capcom I have some limited access to some
great reference material & I think he would have been pretty cool. But I
just never had time to finish him.

|
4. Can you tell us, for which games you have made customskins?
Pretty much only UT. I made a small but fruitless attempt to convert my UT
Visor skin the Damage Amp Maniac (which was only really an embellished
conversion of the great Q3 skin Quadmaniac) back into Q3. But I never got
around to finishing the bot file. Besides that the whole controversy
surrounding the unauthorized conversion of the Visor & other models was
pretty hot & I kinda wanted to avoid the whole thing. I liked the skin I did
& I had permission from the original skin's author to convert the skin into
UT in the first place but the subject was just too hot.

|
5. Which Skin's/Model's you have made for Unreal Tournament?
I've only released 2 skins for UT. One being the Damage Amp Maniac for the
Visor & the other being Jarhead Freek for the Jarhead character model. As
far as modeling goes I haven't the faintest idea on how to do that stuff.
|
|
6.What skin/model are you working on at the moment?
I'm actually working on another Jarhead skin (what can I say I love that
model. She has so much personality) but that won't be done for at least
another couple of weeks. I just haven't had any free time to work on it. But
I am very happy with the results so far.
|
|
7. How much time do you spend on a great skin/model?
Probably way too long. I'm slow & I know it. I usually take about a month or
so & that would be if I put at least 2 or 3 hours on it a day.
|
|
8. Do you want to say something to the community?
To all the great skinners & modelers out there... Keep up the good work but
don't let it go to your head, it's just a game after all.
|
|
9. Can you imaging, making skins for other games like Unreal2 in the future?
Yeah sure I can. I look forward to some new more advanced models to skin.
|
|
10. Where can we see your work? (Webpage)
My lame ass web page can be found at
FreekBoyG. Please also be
sure to visit our UT server ***BlooDFest*** which just happens to run my
skins. That is temporarily at IP 216.103.113.5 but soon to be on a broader
bandwidth connection.
