1. Hi, tell us a little bit about you . Where are you from ? What are you doing ? (School , Work etc.) How old are you ?
I am from Saltlake City, Utah. I am currently living in Sandy, Utah,
which isn't far from Saltlake. I have lived in Palmer Alaska for several
years on and off,
and up there is where I got into making maps and skins for UT and began my
account Goldfenix on Nalicity.
I began mapping in Alaska during the 8th grade, and do to my crappy internet
connection and lack of
resources, I had to discover how to work the editor on my own, which took
along time. Its because of my
uncle David and our UT demo on my older comp that I learned what UT was, and
I really got into it.
I never once did think that one day I would get this far in game designer
because of Utah, but I
suppose so, and I am glad. Currently, I am in 10th grade at Hillcrest High
School in Sandy Utah. I turned 16 on January
3rd. My name Goldfenix was named after Fenix, from the Protoss leader from
Starcraft, and I made
it up back when I was really into Starcraft. Gold, being my favorite color
at the time. I was
initially known as Greenfenix, but after my friend Redfenix changed his
name, so did I. Currently,
I am unemployed, but that will soon change. I assist the ADR team as an
animator and modeller, too.

2. When did you start skinning and for which game?
I began my first skin for UT 2003, when I was in 7th grade. Didn't get
into modelling until
about a year ago, in 2006.

|
3. Do you remember your first skin ?
My first skin I believe was a skin for Corossion, I dont remember the
name. An early skin
I do remeber however was named Saitek, and he was based on the Motig/Selig
model.

4. Can you tell us, for which games you have made customskins?
The only games I have made skins for were UT 2003 and UT 2004, so far.
Would have made things
for Starcraft, but it wasn't very custom-friendly.

5. Which Skin's/Model's you have made for UT/UT2003?
I have made several, maybe 20 or so skins (none have been put up on the
net, all have been
deleted over the years.) I have made several models however, such as Yoshi ,
Laundry Man , Mr.Flippy,
Toshumi, Alma, Kirby, Yoshi v2, Death ball, Ninja, Huo Yuanjia, and possibly
some others. Not all
have been completed or placed on the net.

6.What skin/model are you working on at the moment?
Currently, I am working on a 4 models mainly. 1 is Yoshi v2, which is an
entirley new design
and style of Yoshi based from Yoshi v1. The second is a Rockhopper penguin
character named Mr. Flippy, who
has some funny animations. The third is a military styled fox, which is a
furry, named Toshumi. The last
character who has been very recently conveived and is going well is Alma, a
character I made from FEAR, and
I have been struggling to make it look very much like the original. All
these characters have custom animations,
and several have their own species files, gibs, and voice packs. I am also
working on Tails for the upcoming
UT 2004/UT 2007 mod, Ashura Dark Reign.

7. How much time do you spend on a great skin/model?
On average, I spend about a week, maybe 5 days to make a model (excpet
for my Samus model). It takes me
about 3 days or so to make a somewhat decent skin for the model as well, and
for animations and other things,
it can take about 2 weeks. Overall, a full custom character can sometimes
take about 3 or more months for a
large project. Only once have a conceived a whole character with custom
anims, model, karma dat, and voicepack,
in one entire day, and it was my Laundry Man model.

8. Is there anything you would like to say to the community?
I would just like to state that UT has a great engine, and great support
if you want to make custom things
for it. Any factor can be changed and a whole game can be conceived if you
take the time and effort to learn
what it takes. Would also like to say that the community for UT is very
massive, and there has been alot of
cool stuff made because of all the talent here.

9. Where can we see your work? (Webpage)
You can see my work mainly on Skincity, and of course placed in areas
like Filefront and 3d Downloads . I
want to have a site established, but I dont know how I could put one up, but
I do know html.
